Materialography deals with both, macroscopic and microscopic examinations for showing and clearing up internal structures of metallic, ceramic and plastic materials.
The SLV Duisburg predominantly works on the field of metallic materials (metallography). Here, steel, cast iron, nickel, copper, and aluminum are within our focus.
As an organization for the education and certification on welding and material technology we lay our emphasis on the assessment and investigation of problems dealing with material and welding engineering.
Based on our versatile experience and on the renowned education and certification of our staff, our testing laboratory has a proven competence. This has been underlined by a certification according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025 among others.
We offer the following investigation within the scope of quality assurance and damage investigations among others: - Analysis of metallic materials (steel, aluminum, copper, nickel).
- Macroscopic and microscopic investigation on various materials with and without auxiliary devices such as macroscope, microscope, scanning electron microscope in the range from 1:10 up to approx. 10000:1.
- Determination of material structures, documentation, evaluation and assessment of the structures according to various points of view and regulations such as grain size, purity, structural type and quantitative portions.
- Hardness testing in the range of HV 10 to HV 0.2.
- Scanning electron microscopic examinations with subsequent energy dispersive, qualitative microanalysis.
- Investigations upon corrosion.
- Various standardized corrosion tests such as Strauß-Test, Huey-Test, salt spray test etc.
